Wine Cheese Report 3/21/2021

Hello all, this is the one you have been waiting for. Advaith tried some wine and some cheese this week and he had a lot of fun. He acquired the wine from the South Main Street Kroger and he acquired the cheese from Kroger too, but it was a variety pack because he was not about to shell out the big bucks for the charcuterie board. I thoroughly enjoyed pairing all these wines with cheese, and an additional cheese I wish that I had paired with this wine was Kraft singles cheese, most specifically the American variety. I realized that the world of cheese and wine was one that I needed to do more research into. Pepperjack is my favorite cheese, and I realized why in Ratatouille when Remy paired that grape with cheese why he saw those colors in his head. The lighter wines did not pair as well with the cheese as the red wines mostly because the tannins were stronger with the red wine. I also tried some champagne with the wine, and that was a pretty good idea as well. It's true what they

6 friends and I drank 11 bottles of wine together at this wine dinner. We made bruschetta, we made shrimp scampi and for dessert we had brownies . I'll be honest, once I had my 5th glass of wine all the other glasses tasted the same, but the shrimp scampi was the star of the show for sure, it paired really well with the SEVEN wine with the earthy flavors. I enjoyed the Jacobs Creek Shiraz the best though, it was dry and not too sweet. I learned a valuable lesson on properly making sure to cleanse my palate after drinking a sweet wine to a dry wine, or vice versa otherwise the taste will be influenced. The flavors of butter and garlic with the shrimp paired really well with the red wine(which was surprising). The wine with high tannins went really well with the brie , but I also in general just liked drinking and eating. In reality I only had 2 glasses of wine with food and the other glasses I had by themselves because I just wanted to start while we started cooking the food. Once

Name of the Wine: Artie Pinot Grigio Region: Delhaize(France) Type of Grape:Pinot Grigio Winery Review:  Easy to drink. Hints of citrus and green apple. Refreshing. 4.0 Fruity but only in the sense that the “fruity” taste absolutely blends itself in with the expected profile of a  Pinot Gris . Wine Folly Review: This wine was white and had very fruit forward and flowery flavors. I was getting hints of pears and apples , there were no oak aromas that I observed. There were no observable wine faults and there was no strict tannins either. But this wine was still okay to drink , and taste wise it was floral and I was tasting some citrus as well. (p30-35) My review: I am usually not a white wine drinker but I thought it was okay all the same. I did not pair this wine with any food , and drank the whole bottle as per usual just to make sure that all aspects of the wine tasted really good. I would drink this wine again, but it would not be my first choice  3/5

Hello again, this is the second wine I sampled this week and it was an interesting choice for sure.  Name of Wine: Vino frizzante amabile Lambrusco Dell'Emilia Price: $15 Variety of Grape:  45% Lambrusco Salamino, 40% Lambrusco Maestri, 15% Ancellotta Wine Folly Review: The primary aroma I sensed with this wine was definitely fruit forward aromas, I could not really tell any earthy aromas in a secondary aromas. I liked the taste notes as well, there were more fruity flavors present in this wine, it was sweet. The tannins were not super strong with this wine, but some were present. I could not taste any hints that would indicate it had been stored in a barrel. (p32-36) Winery Review:  Ruby red color, with vinous hints of red fruits typical of Lambrusco. Fruity and full-bodied on the palate, well-balanced, supported by a lively freshness that elegantly closes with soft hints of cherry and plum. Rinaldini Lambrusco Amabile is a great match for hearty Italian foods including rich past

Dear Readers,  It is that time of week again, where I regale you with tales of my wine adventures. Boy o boy did we have adventures this week!  Name of Wine: Frontera Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot Price:$7 Variety of Grape: Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot Winery Review:  Simply put, Frontera Merlot is a smooth operator. Elegant and well-rounded, this wine has lovely cherry and chocolate aromas. A fine match with spicy take out like mexican and chinese. Wine Folly Review: I definitely tasted some black fruits as my primary taste and some earthy flavors for the secondary taste, and once I glanced at the description I realized that it was cocoa. The primary aromas though told the story of the fruits a little better in my opinion, I was able to smell the sourness of the fruits and I could tell it was a sort of black fruits. There was definitely that acidity component in the body of the wine itself. (p29-35) My review: I have drank this wine a lot before, it is one of my parents' favorites

Name of Wine: Sutter Home Moscato California 2018 Price: Don't remember Variety of Grape:Moscato Winery Review: At Sutter Home, we've been bringing people together since 1948. Raise a glass to friends and family with us with this luscious moscato. It's luxurious and sweet with floral aromas, creamy peach and juicy melon flavor with a soft finish. Share good times Sutter Home.  Wine Folly Review: This wine was floral and had fruity flavor as a moscato does. It was really sweet, the primary taste I tasted was the fruity flavor although I could not really taste the melon. There were floral aromas, and it was a nice smelling wine. There was a slight sweetness of peach that I had tasted but I cannot be sure. (p30-36) My review: I used to drink moscato when I started to drink since it was sweet and really easy to get down. As I have matured, a moscato definitely is not my first choice but it is not bad. I did not pair this moscato with any food and just drank it all by itself. I
